(NewsNation) — Sean “Diddy” Combs’ former stylist, who testified against him during his criminal trial, filed a lawsuit against the music producer Wednesday, alleging he was subjected to sexual battery and physical assault by his ex-employer.
Celebrity stylist Deonte Nash worked for Combs from 2008 to 2018, and during that time, he alleged Combs also committed violence, human trafficking and false imprisonment.
“Nash personally experienced sexual, physical, mental, and emotional abuse at the hands of Defendants during his ten-year employment,” including “forced tests of loyalty and manipulation, sexual harassment and sexual assaults, physical violence and manhandling, labor trafficking, threats of harm, and threats of death,” the lawsuit states.
The former stylist gave several accounts of alleged abuse, including an incident where he says Combs “violently strangled” and threw him onto a car. Combs had become enraged after finding out Nash and his former partner, Casandra Ventura, went out to dinner without his permission, the lawsuit alleges.
Ventura was one of the victims who were the basis of Combs’ federal criminal trial.
Stylist accuses Diddy of repeated sexual abuse and violence
In a separate incident, Nash alleged the music producer and his security team entered Nash’s home without permission and “confiscated Mr. Nash’s keys and phone while they forcibly searched the house” for Ventura, the lawsuit states.
Nash also claims Combs and his security team chased him on the freeway at nearly 100 miles per hour, forcing him to turn off his lights to escape.
He also said he allegedly endured death threats that forced him and Ventura into hiding for a week, repeated sexual touching and exposing himself to Nash without consent and damage to the stylist’s professional reputation.
“After enduring years of abuse, I finally found the courage during the criminal trial, and I am now ready to take action,” Nash said in a statement to NewsNation. “It is time for the world to confront the truth about the horrific abuse I endured and the lasting impact of Mr. Combs’ actions on my life.”
Nash’s lawsuit seeks general and compensatory damages, noneconomic damages for emotional distress, punitive damages, costs of the lawsuit and lost wages.
Diddy denies stylist allegations, calls him an ‘opportunist’
Combs has denied the allegations, and his attorneys told NewsNation that Nash was acting as “another opportunist looking to profit off his proximity to celebrity.”
“This complaint is riddled with falsehoods and stands in stark contrast to the record that has already been established in court,” Erica Wolff, an attorney for Combs, told NewsNation in a statement.
“In court, the truth will prevail, as it did in his criminal trial: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone—adult or minor, man or woman. Mr. Combs looks forward to clearing his name again in a court of law where truth matters.”
Stylist testified about abuse in Diddy’s criminal trial
During the criminal trial, Nash was called by prosecutors to testify against Combs.
He told jurors he was “very close” to Ventura and learned about her relationship with Combs early in his employment.
Nash testified to observing several abusive interactions. Nash also corroborated Ventura’s testimony that Combs frequently beat and tormented her. Combs would threaten to hinder Ventura’s fledgling music career and said he’d ruin her reputation by releasing recordings of their sexual encounters, Nash testified.
Combs has spent nearly 13 months in jail after a jury convicted him in July on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution under the Mann Act, which has a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. He was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.
Combs is set to be sentenced Oct. 3.
