(NewsNation) — President Donald Trump told journalists at the White House on Thursday morning that he would support allowing journalists into Gaza.

“I would like to see it happen,” Trump said in response to a question directly asking if he would “pressure” Israel to allow journalists into Gaza while the U.S. seeks to provide humanitarian relief to the region.

“It’s a very dangerous position to be in,” Trump added.

This comes days after Al Jazeera journalists Anas al-Sharif, Mohamed Qureiqa, Ibrahim Zaher, Moamen Aliwa and Mohammed Noufal were killed in a targeted air strike outside the Gaza City Hospital complex.

Israel has asserted that al-Sharif and other Al Jazeera journalists have strong ties to Hamas; however, both al-Sharif and Al Jazeera have denied this claim.
