(NewsNation) — Popular online payment platforms PayPal and Venmo were down Friday morning, preventing hundreds of users from sending or receiving payments.

The PayPal status page indicated “service disruptions” to the online checkout, retail checkout, reporting and Braintree areas of the service. Venmo’s status was marked as “operational”; however, some users reported outages.

Popular outage-tracking site Downdetector showed numerous incidents of reported outages for both sites, which started around 9 a.m. EDT.

“PayPal and Venmo experienced a temporary interruption this morning that has since been resolved,” PayPal said.

PayPal acquired Venmo in 2013.
