(NewsNation) — “American Idol” executive Robin Kaye reportedly met with authorities a day before she and her husband were fatally shot in their Encino, California, home.

Kaye and her musician husband, Thomas Deluca, attended a Community Police Advisory Board meeting on July 9, Josh Sautter, president of Encino’s neighborhood council, told People magazine.

Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell attended the meeting, where he addressed the uptick in local break-ins and other crimes in the area, People reported.

Kaye had attended a previous advisory board meeting, where she expressed fear about a break-in at her home.

Robin Kaye was scared over past break-ins

“Just a few weeks ago,” Kaye said, according to People. “We had our own home invasion — as we were sleeping. They broke in, climbed our wall, smashed through our kitchen door… it was scary.”

The day after the meeting, the couple reportedly returned from a walk when they encountered the suspect, who authorities said entered through an unlocked door to their home.

LAPD received 911 calls the day of killings

The LAPD received two 911 calls on July 10 about a disturbance at the Kaye and Deluca’s home, according to People, and a reported intruder brandishing a “firearm.”

Officers reportedly arrived at the home following the 911 call, walked the perimeter of the property, and a helicopter flew overhead, but authorities never entered the property.

Police discovered Kaye and Deluca’s bodies four days later, on July 14, when they were called out for a welfare check. The couple was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds, including to the head.

The alleged shooter, 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, was arrested July 16 in connection with the shooting. Los Angeles County officials have said the couple were killed by their own gun.

Authorities located Boodarian after he used his phone to call police and provide his name, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman told neighbors at a July 21 community meeting.

Kaye was a music supervisor on “American Idol” from 2009 to 2023. She’s also worked on “Miss Universe,” the NAACP Image Awards, “The Singing Bee,” “Hollywood Game Night,” “Lip Sync Battle” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” according to her IMDB page. Deluca was a singer-songwriter.
