(NewsNation) — Dedicated security lanes for travelers with young kids, strollers, car seats or items like breast milk could soon roll out at an airport near you.
The change is part of the Transportation Security Administration‘s new “Families on the Fly” campaign, an initiative the agency said will “enhance hospitality for families during the airport security screening experience.”
Benefits include dedicated lanes for families — including ones for service members and their families — and $15 off TSA PreCheck enrollment per person.
The family-friendly airport changes are in place at Orlando International and Charlotte-Douglas International airports, with John Wayne Airport in California and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu joining soon.
Family travel columnist Jordi Lippe-McGraw told NewsNation the changes will make a “world of difference” for travelers who are toting along children and their belongings.
She said a family-friend lane would benefit everyone trying to make it through TSA.
“If you don’t have kids, I mean, this keeps everybody else from getting held up as well,” Lippe-McGraw said. “So, think about it that way too.”
Earlier this month, the TSA announced travelers can keep their shoes on in most security lines, and a change in liquid size rules could be on the horizon as Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem makes good on her plans to ease rules at the nation’s airports.
