(NewsNation) — Ozzy Osbourne, the lead singer of British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, has died at 76.

Osbourne was a founding member of the band, which formed in Birmingham, England, in 1968. Black Sabbath just wrapped their final show weeks ago in their hometown.

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” his family said in a statement. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

Here are some celebrities who have shared their reaction to Osbourne’s passing.

Geezer Butler

Geezer Butler, the bass player for Black Sabbath, said in a post on Instagram, “Goodbye dear friend- thanks for all those years – we had some great fun. 4 kids from Aston – who’d have thought, eh?”
