KANSAS CITY, Mo. — “Ted Lasso” will be filming in the Kansas City metro this summer!

Some Blue Springs and Lee’s Summit residents got a letter Tuesday informing them that the show will be filming in the area in July. The letter states Warner Bros. has filed special use permits in both areas for the filming.

The City of Blue Springs shared the following statement with NewsNation affiliate WDAF on Wednesday:

“We’re thrilled to welcome the cast and crew of Ted Lasso to Blue Springs. Having a show with such a positive and inspiring message film in our city is an exciting opportunity to showcase our community on a global stage.”

Lee’s Summit also confirmed with WDAF that a special use permit has been filed; however, it has not yet been approved.

“It would be kind of exciting. I like to watch shows and kind of recognize where they are at,” Lee’s Summit resident, Kathy Sims, shared.

“We are not just a flyover state. We’ve got great BBQ. We are the City of Fountains; there’s a lot to do here that I don’t think many people realize.”

The excitement on Wednesday was met with speculation on what exactly will be filmed at the locations, before the city of Blue Springs confirmed it would be “Ted Lasso”.

“I was thinking maybe they were going to do some kind of pursuit chase or something through the streets because they are asking everybody to have their cars parked in their driveways and keep the roadway clear,” Reynaldo Vela, a Blue Springs resident, who received the letter, shared Wednesday.

The letter, obtained by WDAF, states the production crew is “large, yet professional”, and will do it’s best to respect the peace and privacy of those in the area.

Last week, WDAF reported that “Ted Lasso” was holding a casting call for Missouri actors needed as stand-ins for the show.

The award-winning television series starring Overland Park native Jason Sudeikis is set to film its fourth season this summer.
