MEDFORD, N.Y. (PIX11) — A 7-year-old girl was found walking down a New York highway while her parents were allegedly passed out in a car after drinking on Sunday, according to authorities.

Police said multiple 911 calls were made about the child, who was discovered along Express Drive North in Medford around 10:45 a.m.

Officers found the girl’s parents in a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder that still had the engine running, according to authorities. Police said 37-year-old Victor Dominguez and 35-year-old Inosencia Hernandez-Barranco were unconscious and allegedly intoxicated.

The child was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated, according to authorities.

Police said Dominguez was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child and Leandra’s Law. Hernandez-Barranco faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child, according to authorities.

Both were held overnight ahead of their arraignment.
