NEWARK, N.J. (NewsNation) — Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy touted progress Wednesday regarding issues with air traffic control staffing and technology at delay-plagued Newark Airport.
Duffy highlighted beefed-up staffing and cast blame on the Biden administration, which Duffy claimed was warned of airport issues by “watchdog groups.”
Duffy, earlier this month, called for a massive investment of billions of dollars in the country’s air traffic control system following a series of issues that have plagued it, including outdated technology. The transportation chief also recently launched a cash incentive program aimed at recruiting and retaining air traffic controllers.
The moves come after President Trump and the secretary vowed to overhaul the Federal Aviation Administration.
