(NewsNation) — President Donald Trump held the swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday for Jeanine Pirro as the interim attorney for Washington, D.C.
Pirro, a former Fox News host and county prosecutor, was picked by Trump earlier this month after abandoning his first pick for the job.
“She will always be known as a great prosecutor and a great lawyer, Trump said.”
Trump tapped Pirro to temporarily lead the nation’s largest U.S. Attorney’s office.
“President Trump, you have remained steadfast as one of my earliest supporters and champions,” Pirro acknowledged. “You never wavered. You were always steadfast, trustworthy, and confident.”
Pirro becomes the latest in a string of Trump appointments from Fox News, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who co-hosted “Fox & Friends Weekend.”
“It is a larger arena, but no less an arena where we need justice, where we need to send a message that justice will be honored in the District of Columbia,” added Pirro. “
Trump also touched on a number of topics, including a new term sheet that hopefully would lead to a long-term resolution in Gaza, negotiations ongoing with Iran and agreeing to sit down with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to broker a peace deal between the two nations.
