BELL COUNTY, Ky. (WATE) — On Wednesday morning, Game Warden Derick Creech received a call about a black bear in a home in Bell County, according to the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources Law Enforcement Division.

A Bell County deputy helped Creech run the bear out of the home through an open door. Afterward, they determined that the bear got into the home by climbing up a ladder outside then squeezing through an opening into the attic. The bear then fell through the ceiling.

NewsNation affiliate WATE spoke with the daughter of the people who lived in the home who described the scene.

“It almost fell on my mom when it came through the ceiling,” the daughter said. “They tried to open the kitchen door but the bear would come at them when they did so. My uncle managed to get the door open after about 2 hours and it finally left. The reason it stayed so long was because everyone was waiting on a guy with a tranquilizer but it left before he arrived. Everyone is okay, just shook up.”
