MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Shelby County Deputy went above and beyond the call of duty, delivering a pizza after the delivery driver was hurt in a crash.

The wreck, which involved two vehicles, occurred at Riverdale Road and East Holmes Road in Southeast Shelby County on April 11 at around 9:20 p.m.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, one of the drivers was a pizza delivery driver en route to deliver a pizza when the collision happened.

The driver had to be transported to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, but that didn’t stop deputies from helping him complete his delivery.

SCSO said Deputy Coons stayed at the scene to handle the crash investigation, while Deputy Hugoboom grabbed the pizza and 2-liter soda and made the delivery himself just around the corner.

The sheriff’s office said that when Deputy Hugoboom arrived at the customer’s door, pizza in hand, the family was shocked and deeply touched.

They were relieved to hear the delivery driver would be okay—and amazed that their order still made it to their door, thanks to two caring deputies who went the extra mile.

SCSO is recognizing both deputies for the small act of kindness that left a significant impact.
