ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida home with historical ties, including to baseball legend Babe Ruth, hit the market for just under $2 million.

The 1924 craftsman bungalow, located in St. Petersburg’s Historic Old Northeast neighborhood, once belonged to Ruth and to George Gandy Sr., the builder of Gandy Bridge, according to the real estate listing.

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home sits on a 0.15 acre lot at 346 16th Avenue Northeast and measures in at around 1,700 square feet. Situated just blocks from the bay, it has been restored to meet hurricane standards, according to the listing.

Its future owners will also have access to an approved variance and design plan for a two-car garage and an accessory dwelling unit.

“With its blend of historical significance, architectural authenticity, and modern updates, this home presents a truly exceptional opportunity,” the listing said.

Buyers can own this piece of St. Petersburg history for a $1.865 million asking price.
