(NewsNation) — The consumer price index rose 2.8% in February compared to a year ago, with a 0.2% increase from January. These figures were released amid growing recession concerns.
NewsNation’s Chris Stirewalt explained that consumers, particularly top earners, have continued to spend despite inflation.
He noted that the Trump administration is relying on wealthy Americans to keep spending, hoping that this will help offset the market impacts from tariffs, including in industrial and manufacturing sectors.
