YONKERS, N.Y. (PIX11) — A missing New York City woman was found dead in a suitcase Thursday, her family confirmed with NewsNation local affiliate PIX11 News.

Pamela Alcantara, 26, was last seen at her home in the Bronx borough of New York City around 2 a.m. Sunday, according to the NYPD.

The body was found near Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers, police said. Alcantara’s family said her body was in a suitcase.

Alcantara’s ex-boyfriend was taken into custody as a person of interest, sources said.

Alcantara’s family said she was in the middle of ending a three-year-long relationship with the man she lived with.

“She was supposed to move, and I think he found out. He used to put a recorder on her car,” said Isa Peguero, the victim’s aunt.

Alcantara was a devout Christian whose life revolved around church and helping homeless people, according to her family.

Peguero said Alcantara’s best friend became concerned when she didn’t show up to church on Sunday.

“‘Mom, pray for me.’ She said that to her last Thursday. She said, ‘Mom, I just want you to pray for me,'” said Naysa Peguero, Alcantara’s cousin.
