(NewsNation) — Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has directed civilian workers in the Department of Defense to reply to the Office of Personnel Management’s emails.

In a video posted to X by the DoD, Hegseth specified that only civilian workers should reply to the email and CC their “immediate supervisors.”

Hegseth said the relevant persons will receive instructions as to the next steps to help comply with the directive.

“I am now directing each member of the department’s civilian federal workforce to provide 5 bullets of what they accomplished last week and comply with OPM’s email directive,” Hegseth wrote Sunday afternoon in a quote message above the video.

The Pentagon was among several agencies that initially told their employees to pause on complying with the email explanation but has altered its stance upon review.

“Just a pulse check,” Hegseth said of the OPM email. “Provide, without any classified or sensitive information, basic topics of what you did last week,” he added.
