NASHVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A Nash County puppy, who survived weeks with an arrow in her abdomen is making incredible progress in her recovery.

Earlier this month, we shared Daisy’s story.

A Nash County couple rescued the stray puppy, and a vet treated her for a wound on her back. It wasn’t until weeks later that an x-ray revealed the puppy had an arrow inside her body.

Animal welfare group, Promoting Animal Welfare in North Carolina (PAWNC)  asked for donations and received enough to fund the complex surgery needed to remove the arrow, so that Daisy could remain with the family who took her in.

At first, it wasn’t clear whether Daisy would survive the surgery, which took several hours,  but three weeks later, Daisy is thriving.

The founder of PAWNC, Shelley Milburn reports that the puppy now has her sutures out.

Daisy no longer needs to wear a cone, and she’s finally gaining weight. She added that Daisy likes playing with the other dogs in her home and is enjoying life as a healthy puppy.
