HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — A murder charge has been filed in the death of a 17-year-old at a Holland apartment early Friday morning.

Around 4:15 a.m., crews with the Holland Department of Public Safety were sent to an apartment in the Bay Pointe Apartment Complex at 791 E 16th St. near S. Waverly Road for a domestic incident.

Responding officers found a 39-year-old woman holding a knife. Police said officers gave her multiple commands before using a Taser. She was then taken into custody. Her name has not been released.

While in the apartment, officers found the body of a 17-year-old boy, the woman’s son, police said.

After an autopsy and investigation, police said Friday afternoon that the death had been ruled a homicide. Prosecutors authorized charges of open murder and resisting and obstructing an officer.

Police did not release the name of the teen or suspect Friday.
