MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A former Mississippi babysitter has been sentenced to life in prison plus 40 years for the capital murder of a two-year-old.

Makallie Elizabeth Durham of Corinth pled guilty to capital murder and four counts of felonious child abuse on Friday.

The charges stemmed from the September 2022 murder of a two-year-old toddler. The toddler’s 11-month-old sibling also sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The injuries to both children were determined to be non-accidental.

Durham will not be eligible for parole or any other form of release from incarceration.
