Xavier Walton


Xavier Walton is a national correspondent for NewsNation based in Dallas, Texas.

Mr. Walton joined the network in 2022. Previously, he served as the network’s Miami-based correspondent.

In July 2025, he extensively covered the devastating Fourth of July flash floods in Central Texas, providing on-the-ground coverage as communities underwent mass search and recovery efforts for victims. Additionally, Mr. Walton has covered a multitude of national stories spanning a range of topics, including local schoolbook restrictions in Florida; Project Dynamo, which rescued 270 Americans from Israel; and the kidnapping of a Florida couple in Haiti.  

Prior to NewsNation, he spent three years working as an anchor and reporter for KHOU-TV in Houston, Texas where he covered several major news events, including the mass shooting at Robb Elementary school, the funeral of George Floyd, the Derek Chauvin trial, and the launches of Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rockets.

Before moving to Houston, Mr. Walton worked in Charlotte, North Carolina at WCNC-TV as an anchor and reporter. Previously, he worked for KTWO-TV in Casper, Wyoming, where he was named ‘Reporter of the Year’ by the Wyoming Association of Broadcasters in 2013. He also took second place in Casper’s “Dancing with the Stars.”

Mr. Walton was born and raised in California, earning a degree in communications with an emphasis in journalism from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California. While at CLU, he was the starting point guard of the men’s basketball team. He was also the news editor for the university’s newspaper, The Echo.
